How to Calculate GPA From a Transcript?

Short answer: Read each course row: credit hours and grade. Convert each grade to grade points with your university table. Multiply grade points by credit hours for quality points. Add quality points, add credit hours, divide. Ignore rows marked W, WF, or IP, because those are excluded from CGPA in most universities.

Formula

GPA equals total quality points divided by total credit hours. CGPA equals total quality points across all semesters divided by total credit hours. Quality points for a course equal grade points times credit hours.
